5x Gold, 4x Silver, 4x Bronze 		  Alexey Yurievich Nemov is one of, if not the most famous Russian gymnast in modern times. Alexey's sense of showmanship and the fact that his routines were packed full of exciting skills have won him many fans around the world throughout his long and successful career.

From an early age, success came easily to Alexey. In 1990 at the USSR Youth Spartakiade, he was a multiple winner. He carried this momentum onto 1993 where he was four time champion at the Goodwill Games in St Petersburg and then won a further 3 golds at the European Championships.

Alexey enjoyed huge success at the Olympic Games where he successfully participated in three Olympic Games achieving amazing success which he complimented with similar success at the World Championships.

Perhaps one of the most significant memories of his career was at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens where he was voted the ‘People’s Champion’. Having performed the most incredible routine the judges placed him in a lowly 3rd place. But with the crowd showing their disgust, they upgraded his points, though he was still only in third place. This upset the crowd further, and their groaning only subsided at the request of Nemov himself. This episode was the catalyst for a total makeover of the scoring system.

Since retiring from the sport, Alexey has established a successful touring gymnastics extravaganza ‘The Flights of Time’. The two shows he has written / directed / produced/ organized and starred in thus far have been enormously popular all over Russia.

Such is Alexey’s popularity in Russia that film makers are planning to make a film of his life!

His global contribution has also been recognized by the Laureus World Sport Academy, where he has been elected as the first Russian Member, and gives him a unique association with most of the worlds living sporting legends.

Alexey is relishing his role as a Team Visa Mentor, and has already found a new love for athletics, through his support of Elena.
